Following the recent acquisition of TIE Kinetix, a Netherlands-based company with 36 years of EDI and e-invoicing experience, SPS Commerce is seeking a Java Backend Engineer to join our team in the Netherlands. Passion for Java programming, an eye for detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Day to Day

Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, you will join a small but essential team that maintains the key mapping tool used by different internal teams. We'll help you get up to speed so that within a short time you will be developing and maintaining APIs and other features.

 

As part of the Development Team, working from our Breukelen office in the Netherlands or your home office, you will work closely with colleagues of different nationalities. Your responsibility will be to contribute to bi-weekly sprints. The maps you'll support may be run hundreds of thousands of times a day so, while they may not be complex, they must be robust. Specific responsibilities may include programming, troubleshooting, testing, security checks, assisting with business system integrations and navigating through time-sensitive transactional (EDI) data.

 

Required Skills

General qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in software development with a medium to high volume
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline
  • An eye for detail, an analytical mindset and logical problem-solving skills
  • A technical minded and the ability to adapt quickly
  • Basic English language proficiency is required

 

Specific qualifications

  • Experience with Java 8 or higher
  • Strong knowledge of core Java APIs
  • Experience with Spring Frameworks such as Bootstrap 
  • Experience working with Maven
  • Experience developing web services using REST and SOAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational abilities
  • The ability to work independently

 

Workflow requirements

  • Git
  • Gitflow method
  • Bitbucket - source control repositories

 

Preferred but not required

  • An understanding of EDI standards (EDIFACT, ANSIX12, etc.) and/or eInvoicing standards Knowledge of XML and document exchange, and the business contexts within which they are used Java development experience on product development with Eclipse framework and any Graph database Experience in migration/upgrade of an older system to new framework
